Week beginning 26th February

I just thought I would let everyone know the plan for next week.

Monday: I am on a course all day. Mrs Hale and Mr Waters will be in the class. Mrs Hale will be making ‘moon rock cakes’ in small groups. One group will be making them on Tuesday morning (everyone will be cooking at some point over the two days!) This is linked to measuring and fractions in Maths.

PM – Year 1 PE with Mike and Year 2 will be making bird feeders with Mrs Hale. If you eat yoghurt over the weekend, please can the Year 2’s bring in the pots for their feeders. Thanks.

Tuesday and Wednesday are a normal day!

Thursday: TRIP!! Please can the children dress warm. I think some of it is outside.

Friday: We are celebrating World Book Day. If the children want to dress up they can, but no pressure!! It would be nice though for them to bring in their favourite book, a book written by their favourite author or a book that contains their favourite character. I will be providing time for the class to share their books with each other.

I think that is everything! If I remember anything else, I will let you know!

Have a great weekend.

Morning, sorry for the late message. I’m taking the whole class outside for PE today. (Training to be an astronaut!) please can they have some trousers to do the lesson.

Thank you

Year 1 Bird Feeders

Year 1 loved making bird feeders yesterday in the school garden. Hopefully, the birds are enjoying eating them!

Year 1 will be bringing home a tally chart to complete for birds they have seen in the garden. If they could bring the sheet back in by Monday so we can use them to create a bar chart during our maths lessons. Thank you πŸ™‚

Week beginning 19th February

Hope you are all having a lovely half term.

On Monday Year 1 will have OWL and Year 2 PE. Please can the children have the correct kits in school. I have put the OWL timetable on the ‘letters’ section of my blog. I would like the Year 1’s to make bird feeders this week, please can they bring in a couple of empty and clean yoghurt pots. Don’t worry if you don’t have any as I will bring in a few.

InΒ  maths we will be spending a few weeks looking at fractions. Year 1 need to know the following:

  • To understand that a half is a whole divided into two equal parts
  • To find half (of shapes, objects and quantities)
  • To understand that a quarter is one whole divided into 4 equal parts.
  • To find a quarter (of shapes, objects and quantities)

Year 2:

  • To understand that fractions are equal parts of a whole.
  • To find fractions 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 (of shapes, measures, objects, quantities)
  • To find 3/4Β  (of shapes, measures, objects, quantities)

This is a very tricky topic for the children, so if you are able to help at home especially through cooking then it will really help.

Thank you, enjoy your weekend πŸ™‚

Hi everyone,

I have just updated my ‘letters’ section with the OWL timetable for next term. Year 1 will be doing OWL on the first day back. Year 2 will be having PE. Please ensure the children have appropriate kits in school.

Hopefully, the children came home with a school trip letter yesterday that both Foxes and Hedgehogs will be going on in March. I will put the newsletter on the ‘Letter’ section once I have returned to school.

Just to let you know I have not set any spellings or homework over the holidays. Please can the children to continue to read and record the reading in their yellow diaries.

Thank you for your continued support,

Have a lovely half term πŸ™‚
