This week in English we are writing a poem linked to the ocean.
In Maths, we are learning about length. We will be accurately measuring using a variety of different measuring tools and comparing lengths.
In the afternoons we will be having creative art sessions either linked to our Australian topic or by making a piece of art for the Church competition.
Tomorrow the Year 2 will be doing OWL and Year 1 will be having PE.
This week the class will have PE on Wednesday rather than Tuesday. This is because I am out for the day. Angela Whitehead will be taking the class for the day.
Just to remind everyone that on Thursday afternoon it is the tea party for Miss Rae and Mrs Cronin. If you are able to make some cakes please sign up on the sheets which are on the whiteboards in the playground. Thank you
See you all tomorrow 🙂
This week in English we are preparing for our class assembly as well as looking at a poem called ‘The Great Barrier Reef’.
In Maths, we are continuing to learn division.
Tomorrow afternoon Year 1 will be going to the woods. Year 2 will be having PE. It is a requirement that the children wear long sleeved clothes when in the woods so they can either wear a long sleeved top and trousers (if they do not want to wear a blue suit). If they do want to wear a blue suit then shorts and t-shirts under neither will be fine. Year 2 might want to bring sun-cream so they can put it on just before PE. Please can I remind everyone to bring a water bottle into school and a sun hat.
Tuesday afternoon = PE. However, if it is too hot I might postpone.
Wednesday at 2:45pm – class assembly.
See everyone tomorrow 🙂
At the beginning of the week, Year 1 will be having their Phonics Screening Test. This is nothing to worry about as they have been completing these tests at the end of each term since starting in Year 1. The pass mark is usually 32/33 out of 40. If they do not pass this year then they re-take it this time next year (Year 2).
English – The class have produced some excellent songs about Australia. This week they will be writing them up for display, learning them off by heart and adding actions to go with them.
Maths – We are continuing with our Big Maths challenges each morning. This week we will be focusing on division. Year 2 will be learning about remainders. They will also be taught the ‘bus stop’ method for working out calculations. Year 1 will use multilink or repeated subtraction.
This week Miss Rae will be teaching the class Wednesday and Thursday afternoon so the class will have two days of music and RE. This is because Miss Rae did not teach them last week due to covering Badgers class.
Monday = OWL – Year 2, PE – Year 1.
Tuesday = Class photo’s.
Enjoy the rest of your weekends,
See you on Monday 🙂
